Nou Barris district takes its name from the nine neighbourhoods that originally formed it, although today are in actual fact fourteen. This area is rather steep and was urbanised around the 1950s’ when most estates were built as council accommodation. Transport was almost non existent as the government blamed the steep condition of the roads as too much of a difficulty to get buses up there. Today living conditions have improved with redeveloped urban spaces, better transport and infrastructure. There are also plenty of parks and squares and the Collserola hillside itself.
