Les Corts is home to the smart and upmarket neighbourhood of Barcelona Pedralbes which takes its name from the typical light-coloured rocks of the area. This rich quarter of Barcelona has many old and new mansions and smart houses surrounded by gardens. Avenida Pearson, one of the most exclusive avenues of the city, is located in Pedralbes.
The district’s main attraction is the Monasterio de Pedralbes, one of the most valuable Catalan Gothic constructions commissioned by Queen Elisenda de Montcada (4th wife of Jaume II) in 1327.
Other interesting sites in this area are Parque Cervantes, the Pedralbes Royal Palace and Gardens, the University Area Campus Norte (North campus). Finca Guell, a beautiful country house designed by Antoni Gaudi features an amazing iron dragon at the entrance, one of the artist’s famous trademarks. Least but not last is the Barcelona Football Club Stadium and Museum, which attract a large quantity of tourists.
